I've been suffering with extreme exhaustion and fatigue for over a year now. Also, my concentration is low and my short-term memory is bad. My doctor prescribed me Methylcobalamin shots to see if that gives me a boost. It cost about $48 to get 8 individual syringes from a compounding pharmacy. I'm going to have the nurse give me injections twice a week. I had my first shot this past Monday and I haven't felt any different. If the B-12 was going to help, should I have felt some benefit from the first shot?

My complete blood count was normal. Is it still possible that I may have a
B-12 problem?

It takes a while to build up the benefits of B-12, if you are low or out of it. But, it still will not be a buzz or anything noticeable. Gradually you will realize you feel better if the dose is right and consistent.

Maybe you need the other coenzyme B12 that is used at the cellular level (energy production)--adenosylcobalamin (aka dibencozide). Methyl-B12 works in the brain and nerves. Both are very important. Maybe you could ask for hydroxocobalamin shots instead, since this gets converted into BOTH coenzyme B12s.

You can also use sublinguals. Recent research shows it is effective, contrary to some doctors' opinions (guess staying up-to-date on simple vitamin/nutrition issues is too time-consuming and not as glamourous as other studies).

Good luck.

You might ask your doctor about Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I have them both but it can cause you to have extreme fatigue and pain. Good luck, you're not alone.

Thanks for the replies.

Amgoingtoheal,
What has helped you with the fatigue, brain fog, etc. that comes with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?
