Hi! Anyone have experiences with using magnesium supplements for colon detoxification and chronic constipation? Any feedback is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

For chronic constipation your best bet is to use a good fiber supplement like Metamucil 2-3 times per day and if you stools are hard then add colace aka docusate to your routine until the Metamucil kicks in. You also need to find out what is causing your constipation and eliminate the cause if you can. Drink prune juice or take prunes daily and be sure to eat plenty of yogurt with live active cultures or take acidophillis capsules daily to help keep your digestive flora healthy. You also need to sit on the toilet for 5 minutes EVERY day after breakfast whether you go or not to try to get your bowels regulated. If by the third day you haven't had a decent BM then use a glycerin suppository.

Yes, I take daily magnesium supplements in addition to Metamucil 2 X per day. The magnesium has made a huge difference for me. It keeps my stools soft. I've been taking the magnesium for 4 months. For me, the magnesium also has another benefit. People who suffer from migrane headaches (me), are often low in magnesium.
I prefer to take magnesium supplements vs. Colace, which does nothing for me, other than make my stools too sticky to pass easily.
Magnesium works for me.

Magnesium works for me too. Also helped my muscle cramps and skipped heartbeats.

I have found that vitamin C several times a day works too.... (on an empty stomach with lots of water) magnesium works better on an empty stomach as well

if you use the vitimin C make sure you get the 'ester-C'brand- it is much easier on your stomach as it is less acid in it.mistyone
