For those of you who are "in the know" so to speak regarding fitness, I had a question about getting lean.

If I run (6) miles per day, 4-5 days per week, do situps and pushups regularly, and follow a good nutrition plan, is it possible to get real lean? My curren body fat % is around 24, and I'd like to knock off at least another 10%. -Chris

Yes, with this plan you will lose weight, provided you follow a sound nutrition plan. I believe that with weight loss of two pounds per week, it translates to about 1% bodyfat loss per month.

Lean, definitely...Cut? Well, who knows...a lot of that is gonna be based on your diet, my friend. Lets look at the running however...You say you wanna run 6 miles a day 4-5 days a week to get lean. I'm assuming getting lean is your ultimate goal right? Let's say we cut back the long runs to 2-3 days a week and then added in some 200-400 meter sprints 1-2 days a week, how would you feel about that? Look at how cut and muscular olympic sprinters are. They got that way from what?...sprinting! If you add some sprints you are definitely gonna heat up that fat burning furnace, build some quality muscle, AND you get to take a break from the long runs once in a while. Do some searches on the net about a decent sprinting routine. Most of them have you sprinting one day, long runs the next, and alternate in that fashion. I see no prob with adding in the pushups and situps as well, but better to them after you've finished the running for that day or do them on your days off.
