I wash my hair & it gets oily just a few hours after washing it. My hair is thick and is very dry in the back, but at the crown is oily. I even use the daily clarifying shampoo & then thought maybe it's the conditioner that was making it that way, so I even stopped using conditioner! I still have oily hair & it's so embarassing  What helps?

Try another product. Since you have thick hair...something like Redken Express shampoo and conditioner will work well. It has witchhazel in it that helps with the drying time as well as to help keep the scalp clean.

You might not be rinsing well or aren't getting the shampoo properly distributed throughout your hair.

Firstly, use about the size of a silver dollar, then rub your palms together. On your wet hair start using your fingers to get though to the scalp area...distribute the shampoo. Then start the cleaning process in a massage technique.

Focus on the scalp in an organised vertical manner.....forehead to nape at the uppermost part of the head. You'll be going past the crown. Then move each hand over 2 inches and from forehead to nape, then from the sides to nape. Cover the WHOLE scalp and do it again. Don't scrub really hard or use your nails.

Rinse well, and if you're in the shower or using a hand shower rinse from the front to back with head upright, and then with head forward (kind of upside down) rinse from back to front and then upright again front to back.

Then use conditioner.....either leave in or rinse out kind. If it's rinse out kind, apply a smaller amount than shampoo. Rub hands together and then start at ENDS of hair to the scalp area. Use less at the scalp area.

Rinse well.

Dry your hair with a blow dryer or diffuser.

Hope this helps,

Oily hair:

If you have excessively oily hair and nothing seems to help, squeeze one lemon in a gl of water and wash your hair with this mixture. Your hair will lose its oiliness and become clean.

Curd (yoghurt) has all the elements hair needs to be healthy. Apply curd on the roots of the hair, leave on for half an hour and then wash.
This will reduce hair fall and at the same time condition the hair.

Rubbing lemon on the parts of the scalp where there is hair loss, is a good remedy. Before you shampoo your hair, rub one lemon on the scalp. Wait for half an hour.
Do this regularly for a period of two to three months and your hair will begin to grow back again.

Coconut oil is also a very good remedy for hair loss.
Give yourself a good hot coconut oil mage. Heat the oil and apply on the scalp using cotton wool. Soak the portion of the scalp where there is hair loss with the oil and mage in circular motion. Preferably leave overnight. Wash in the morning. This will improve the quality of your hair and will reduce hair fall considerably.
