After suffering for 10 years and practically going crazy from it I had surgery.Septum straightened tonsils removed and palate shaved down.Yes it works. For me anyway, I am 41, and 30 lbs over my ideal weight which is debatable.I have had 3 sleep studies the last so inconclusive that at 4 am the attendent said he feels like he is torturing me and sent me home.I finally went to an ENT who quickly agreed surgery may help.I have a smaller than normal windpipe from whatever so a little extra flesh didn't help things. While I was lying in the Day surgical unit being prepped I had a little time to read my own sllep study reports. The SOB sleep doc wrote back to my primary that I needed a lifestyle change,a new bed, maybe a change of scenery and weight loss.Ok I agree with some recommendations but at least theses guys should clue me in.Now it become clear to me that is why the primary recommended an anti depressant for me.Freakin doctors.
These days for me a good 6.5 hours of sleep is all I need to be chipper the following day.If I get more I don't really feel better. But on those days when I get 6-7 hours of uninterrupted sleep I feel dynamite. Remember to follow all the advice about no caffiene, booze, food,a warm bath once in a while and no late night exercise.(Like playing ice hockey at 11 pm).
