My husband has suffered 25 years with headaches everyday. When the pressure changes they go into migraines. We have been to LOTS of Drs. lot of tests and the same old thing. He has been on all the latest meds. He just went to see a new nuerologist and all he did was talk to him and prescribe a muscle relaxer for five days to the tune of $343. We were out of town and he had to get a prescription called in for Frova and it was $80.00 for four pills. He is on Topamax and something to help him sleep. A friend from another state called last week and said his wife has had them since she was 15 and she hasn't had one in three months. She started taking magnesium. I thought yeah right. None of that stuff works. Well, my husband has been on it for nine days and has not had a headache. He is ministering in Argentina this week and I just got off the phone with him and still no sign of a headache. Our friend said she went for three weeks with out a headache and thought well, anytime now. It has been three monthsfor her. I don't know what it does but I know I'm paying a (one of many over the years) a $13,000 bill that was to see what was causing the headache (which showed up nothing) and I bought a bottle of magnesium at Walmart for $3.97 and the headache is gone. My husband took six the first few days and had dirrahea really bad so I don't suggest a person do that. Think the bottle I got says three. Anyhow you can go to sites and read about it. It is working for us. I am so thankful. I've taken him to the hospital crying with these headaches. Just recently he was down in the bed for two months. We've been on the narcotic trail also. I can relate to all the things I've read on here.

libbylou,I too have suffered headaches daily for 17 years and I too have been to alot of doctors. I reciently went to my local health food store and one of the people there recommended to me magnesium aspotate. Magnesium is the mineral our body needs to relax the muscle and calcium helps to contract the muscle. I have had a major reduction in the severe headaches since on magnesium . Magnesium asportate is a type that digests in the system better and has a higher potency.I forgot to take them for 2 days and I had a very bad migraine last nite. Magnesium can be taken intot he body also by eating dark green veggies however being a cow in the field all day is not my bag..lol. yes. do warn everyone do not over take them you will be spending many hours in the outhouse.lol. I too love these boards . Tell your husband good luck and keep me posted. Try the magnesium asportate..

Hi thanks for the info.
Can you tell me is there a difference in the milligrams or does that not matter?

I know I am going to get me some and try that ASAP!!

Thanks
Patty

The bottle I bought is Spring Valley Natural Magnesium with Chelated Zinc. It says three pills is one dose. Someone on here said Magnesium asportate is good. I think you get that at the health food store. I got my husbands at Walmart. I am going to take it for joints. I still can't believe it. You would not believe the money we have spent in all the years he has had these. It has been nine days now totally headache free.

Hello,

One lesser known treatment for migraine is intra muscular injections of magnesium. It is though that some people who suffer with migraines are deficient in magnesium, if magnesium works as a cure for their headaches then it's possible that is the cause. It is, as someone said, also a muscle relaxant - and the contraction of muscles is also thought to play a role in migraine, and also, more obviously, tension headaches.

best,

hbep
