I'm half mexican and half white. My hair is thick and naturally curly. So when it rains it definately frizzes out on me. I normally put gel in my hair after I shower. When my hair dries up alittle bit, I take a hot curling iron through it to smooth it out and make nice waves in my hair.
My question is....is what can I buy to make my hair feel soft and silky smooth? Or am I doomed to the frizzy, not so soft thick hair? I need a name of a product and place to buy it. The only way my hair calms down is when its dry, I twist it back at night - the next day it always looks better, in fact it straightens out pretty good if I do that. I hate to say it, but I do wait like 3 days inbetween washings because my hair looks the best that way. Each day it gets alittle more calm.
Any suggestions would be great!

If you just want something to make your hair soft, Redken's All-Soft shampoo and conditioner works well. I didn't like it as much because since my hair isn't really thick it kind of flattened it out a little bit. I would also recommend Neutrogena's Triple Moisture silk touch leave in conditioner. My family is bi-racial as well and I use this on my niece's curly hair and it smoothes all of her frizzies away. You can get this stuff at Ulta, or I think Target and Meijeir have neutrogena and may even sell some of Redken's stuff. I don't know where you live so I'm not sure what stores you have near you.
And don't feel ashamed about washing your hair less often than some. A lot of peolple really shouldn't wash their hair everyday, especially if it is thick or curly because it dries it out too much. I wash mine every other day or so. Even Debra Messing from Will and Grace says she washes her hair every 4-5 days!

Thanks for the tips jenikat. I will definately try the leave in conditioner. I ALWAYS have to put gel in my hair after I wash it. I hope the leave in conditioner and the gel together work great for me. I just want silky hair, I just don't think so far I'm destined to have it. I'll try anything to get as close to it as I can though.

Pure coconut oil is always good on my hair as soon as I get out the shower...I'm Puerto Rican and Black and my hair is very dry and curly. It helps soften and makes it nice and shiny...you can't use too much though, or it will just turn out greasy. I use it when I let my hair dry naturally and when I straighten it.

Thanks jazzyE. I'm guessing that I could go to the supermarket to pick up the pure coconut oil right? I use to straighten my hair with an iron, but it just didn't look right on me. My hair would be straight but it looked very dry and it didn't feel or for that matter look healthy. So now I just twist it up in a bun at night and take it out in the morning and it actually works pretty good for me. I just want softer silkier hair.
My 2 daughters are mexican, puerto-rican and white. My oldest is going to have the same hair problems I do. My youngest got lucky, not with just the hair, but she also has blue eyes...how common is that in a latina with parents who have brown eyes?! (There's blue eyes that run in some parts of our family).
Thanks so much for your suggestion. I definately plan on trying it.

I'll 2nd Redkens All Soft!! My hair is thin and straight, but after bleaching, the difference between using regular conditioner and the Redken was night and day!! You wouldn't even know it's been bleached!
