I need some advice to see if I have ARS…..I am a 35 year old male. On Nov 15th 2004 I was on a business trip and received unprotected oral se# from a dancer at a strip club. She took my pen!s out of her mouth prior to ejaculation. A couple of days later I started feeling a heavy burning sensation when I would urinate, so I went to the ER at a local hospital. At this point other than the burning, I felt physically fine. I took a urinalysis and they swabbed me and such. They did not take a blood sample. The Dr. told me as a precaution that he would give me a shot of antibiotics that should take care of everything except herpes and HIV. So I took the shot and they gave me 4 red pills (more antibiotics I suppose). The Dr. told me it would take a few days on the lab results and discharged me from the ER. Over the next few days the burning continued followed by severe tenderness in the scrotom area, swollen test!cles, and flu like symptoms (Stiff neck, muscle aches, fatigue, headaches, diarrhea, sore throat). The burning and tender scrotum symptoms disappeared within a week. Oddly, I have never ran any fever (I checked it at least once daily), had no rashes, and have maintained a good appetite through the entire ordeal (ie: no nausea, vomiting, weight loss, etc). Well, it has been 3 weeks now and I am still having some severe flu like symptoms – Stiff neck, muscle aches, sore throat, severe fatigue, sore lymph nodes in the neck/armpits/groin. I still have not heard any response from the ER so I have to assume all of the STD tests results were negative. I am scared to death right now because I have 2 wonderful little children, and the thought of HIV infection is devastating for me. All I can do right now is to be abstinent and wait the 3 months to get tested for antibodies to HIV. Should I go ahead and take a blood test to check for STD infection? Is there a chance the 1 antibiotic shot didn’t cure the STD (If I even had one)??!!! Fever looks like a dead ringer for initial ARS/HIV infection, so does my lack of fever/rash keep me out of the woods? Does anyone know my real chaces for HIV infection in the case? Sorry this post is so long, I am just so worried about this ,any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I am going through some of the same delimas now, unfortunantly it is all a number game. I heard from the STD center the average person will show up in 25 days. I tested on the 25th day by luck most show at 3 months except in certain examples like the moderator mentions in their posting. 99% show up in six months, let me share my dilema. I was out of the country at a dance club and a girl swallowed my beer bottle with her vagina. I took a 20 dollar bet to drink it, thinking I would break even at the end of the night. Well, I have already spent $20.00 at the health clinic and much more on herbs to treat whatever is going on. I will be posting my situation next, 14 days something that looks like proctits which is know in hiv patients. 15 & 16th day, fever symptoms tempeture read 96.7 which is a low temp. I don't know what that meant. Head cold on the 18th day, thrush on the 21st day, I tested on the 25th day. Health clinic didn't seem to think the proctitis thing looked like anything did a urethra culture and a throat culture. Negative on everthing except my slide smear had a couple white blood cells. No treatment necessary, now I am a married man and love my wife very much. Guess what she is experiencing loose stools and cramping now too. I would say take the test, give yourself some sort of peace of mind. Also, before you test learn about all the diseases that are out there. Get tested for syphillis and all the other bacteria viruses that are treatable after you are clean stay off the internet until after your 90 day test or six months. Also, protected sex always, use the dental dams when you go down on someone until you have been together for six months and have went to the clinic together. This will probably impress any girls worth having too. I hope this helps out and I wish you well, I hope we both end up educated from this I was 32 and had no clue. "Sad"
