View Full Version : Any suggestions or help: Memory loss, fatigue, lightheadedness , and blurry vision

I am a fairly young person (20 years old) but starting around 7 months ago I began suffering from a peculiar aliment. I found myself constantly tired, unable to concentrate, and unable to maintain any sort of memory or recognition. I could not remember things I had just read, the names of friends or people (very embarrassing), or normal words to use in conversation. I found myself very fatigued at all points in the day, yet always had trouble getting a good nights sleep. I had an open MRI done that revealed nothing...(is it possible that since the MRI was open and that it was the shortest possible sequence - I am horribly clostraphopic - that the MRI missed something). Does anyone know what might be effecting me, or have experienced a similar situation?

HI, I have all the same symptoms you just listed. I went to my doc and she checked out my thyroid. It turned out my thyroid is underactive, which makes me feel tired, foggy headed, problem losing weight, memory loss. So I suggest getting that tested..it is a simple blood test and it is easliy treated with medication.
Also stress can make you have those symptoms also..
Best of luck.

I agree with Noah'smommy, you need to get your hormones checked.

Also, check for Lyme...sometimes it goes hand in hand with underactive thyroid and those symptoms....

noahsmom,

One question: would the symptoms of underactive thyroid typically show up at a particular time of life -- tjd states a sudden onset at nineteen?

greetings
i have the same problems you have described having had them for about 5 years or thereabouts. cat scans and dr visits have proved neg along with food intolerance testing (which im still trying out). i also have blurred vision and trouble focusing sometimes and am permanantly 'fogged'
my main problem is getting the dr to listen as he now thinks im just swinging the lead
if i get any results with the intolerance thing i will let you know
good luck
