I'd like to know what anyone else who has or is using The Firm excercise program thinks about them? I got them about a year ago and didn't like them. I stopped after about 2 weeks. I tried it again this morning and my opinion is the same! I don't think these tapes are for beginners--I'm not even referring to the excercises themselves because they can be modified. But the instructors go way to fast and act as if everyone is experienced with these routines and can jump right in! They don't cue properly at all, never mention your form or anything. I'm not new to excercise--I just decided to try these again and to possibly incorporate them into my current excercise routine. I have many other excercise videos which I think are much more effective because they are easier to follow! You can't get anything out of any excercise video if you can't follow it! I have Jazzercise videos and the Slim in 6 program and those in my opinion are so much better! No one should have to review an excercise video a dozen times beforehand so they can keep up with the routines. With the other 2 that I mentioned, I was truly able to jump right in and keep up.
Does anyone else feel the same way?

I have to say that I absolutely love them! I have been doing them for about 2 months, and I see amazing results! My husband, who was never a fan of following any directions (he always knows better than everybody what workouts should be like :)), does them almost everyday. I have approx. 8-10 DVD's (the new ones, not the old ones - the ones that came with the Fanny Lifter, the ones that came with the Sculpting Stick, plus a few other ones), and I like almost all of them (only one of them kind of bores me). I was never good at exercising, and I started because I couldn't lose weight efficiently anymore. I used to go to the gym every once in a blue moon, I would keep it up for about 2 weeks, and then I would give up. This time I amaze myself, not to mention my husband, who never thought I would keep it up this long (he almost had a cow when he saw me walking in with the Fanny Lifter - waste of money, he thought... :)). I have to admit that I found most of them easy to follow, and what I didn't get, I would just rewind and got it the second time - third at the most.
I am sorry to hear you did not like them. But I think it's got to do a lot with personal preference. I don't think anything is one-size-fits-all, and this way of exercising might just not be your cup of tea. :) Just like I am really happy that I found something that I can enjoy and keep up with, I think that it is great that you found something you liked, like the Slim in 6, maybe this is more appealing to you, in which case you can just keep doing it! :)
Just my $0.02...

Thanks for your response. Don't get me wrong--I'm not questioning the excercises themselves or their effectiveness. I just think the instruction is pretty bad. Like I've said--I am not new to excercise, aerobics, excercise video's etc. But I think that the instruction and lack of cues in this program is the worse I've ever seen. I have so many other instructors to compare them to! The Slim in 6 lady is very good; Judi Missett of Jazzercise is good; and there's a new one I've discovered--her name is Mina (can't remember her last name), but she is also very good.
I'm really glad that you and your hubby like them. I like variety so that's why I'm so open to having a "library" of excercise videos to choose from and really wanted to include the Firm regularly. I may continue to do the upper body that they have--those are pretty easy to follow.

In my opinion, the Firm videos are designed quite well and if it was done any slower, people would complain about that since the heart rate should be up the whole time and I have about 50 videos! Yes, it is quite challenging and that's why they are designed for the advanced. I guess it depends on preference, like whether or not one needs something challenging. And, I actually learned alot about proper form with those videos...you may have the older ones or something. I'm sorry you don't like them. :(
