View Full Version : Migraine with aura?

I know I should ask my doctor, but it's Saturday, so I'm looking for advice.
I had a headache today that kinda went like this. First, I started seeing spots, like the center of something would be gone. Then, I started having flashes and zig-zag lines (I don't know how else to describe it.) It'd start along the edges of my eyes and this lasted for about half an hour. Then I had, and still have, a headache from hell, but the vision problem is gone.
Does this sound like a migraine with aura?

Sounds like you have epilepsy! I have the same weird patters before I have a seizure. My eyes get these weird spots, I have an aura, and then I blank out. I always have headaches, they seem to stick around. Do your headaches center around the sides, forehead, or back of your head?

I have horrible forehead headaches. I just lay down for 2 hours with no lights on for my head to feel better. 600 mg of Burana also helps but isn't good if you have an ulcer. Could your blood pressure be risen due to stress or something? You could have a high blood pressure attack.

I'd just lay low and take it easy. Don't stress or worry about anything until you can ask your doctor. I hope you get better!

I really don't think it's epilepsy. I have these headaches about twice a year.
I check my blood pressure everyday, so it's not that. Thanks for the advice!

I have similar symptoms. For me, it's like someone took my picture with a camera and I'm blinded by the flash. Then I see zigzags of color in the center of my vision, which usually go off to the side. It lasts about 30 mins. followed by a headache and numbness on my left arm & face. I recently saw my dr. and he diagnosed me as having migraines with aura aka optical migraines. He explained that the blood vessel in the optical nerve has a spasm. He told me to rest until it passes and then take Tylenol or Advil since my headaches are not severe. I have since learned that my father suffered this also but hasn't had an attack in 20 yrs. My computer monitor has been a trigger and also sun glare.

Check with your dr. and keep us posted. I'm interested to talk to others with this experience and learn more about treatment & prevention.

Sorry to disagree with anyone but it sounds like migraine with aura to me.
