Okay, guys--

I hafta give a formal presentation to an outside panel on Tuesday for my end of the semester history class. I am absolutely terrified. It's still two days off an I am already flipping out and having trouble sleeping. Can anyone identify with this presentation nervousness? Anyone have any suggestions? Does Kava root work? Dear god, my stomach is in knots.

Hi there!

Wow, I really feel for you. I graduated from college in 02 and had the same thing happen. I had to give a presentation on my internship and I was dying! I know this is not the answer, and certainly should not be relied upon frequently, but here is what I did. This was a night class and conveniently my friends and I went to Happy Hour every Tuesday at the same bar, so, before my presentation I had maybe two drinks. I got through it and it really wasn't too bad. I was far from drunk, even far from being "buzzed" I guess. Just relaxed and comfortable.
Also, if it really is bothering you, I have a friend who has this same problem and her father is a doctor. He gives her valium or a beta blocker every time she has to do something like that and she said it really helps her. You could probably go to your health center and request something to help you through it. Good luck! You will get through it, no matter what. Just remind yourself that really, no matter what happens, it's only a moment and even if your whole grade rested on this one thing, you could sit down and explain to your professor why you had any problems with the presentation. I had to do that in two classes and you know what? The professors were completely understanding and allowed me to make up anything I had problems doing. Let us know how it goes!
