i get this pain sometimes directly on top of my head, more to the left side though.
it isn't your typical throbbing headache.
it is more of a shooting pain.
it doesn't last more than a minute.
and it doesn't hurt severly, but is more annoying.
any ideas what this could be?
what should i do?

It is probably muscle spasms from being over stressed. But, you should still see your family doctor and make absolutely sure.
