Does anyone have advice on how to deal with going for an MRI while having severe anxiety and panic attacks. my symptoms have been horrible lately. i am constantly lightheaded and when i drive i feel like im going to pass out. also whenever i lay still i always have to tap my fingers or something because i can feel my heart pounding so hard. So i have no clue what i should do about the mri, i think i have to cancel it because its actually giving me PA just thinking about it. I take klonopin .5 once a day. If i go should i take 2 pills before i get there. But the klonopin once a day is doing nothing for my PA now as it is i dont see it working when i go for the MRI. Please, if anyone could help me out i would appreciate it. thankyou
one more thing, i never tried a tranquelizer, do u think it would help to take one for this situaion

I had a MRI completed two months ago. When I looked at that thing-I asked the tech -didnt they have an open one -her reply-that was an open MRI -LOL. I tried to go through it and got very clausaphoic (sp?). ( I dont like elevators or very enclosed places) My doctor prescribe 1mg of XANAX-I took it about 15 minutes before going back into that tube and I was fine. I was in the "tube" about 30 minutes and it really didn't seem that long. If you never had one before-it is very noisy - clicking and almost jack hammer sounds. Good Luck-Don't worry -Xananx or any type of med like it will make you at ease.
