Paxil has a generic form now (wayyyy cheaper) so I would think Prozac would too. A lot of SSRI's should have generics available by now. Prozac can last longer than 9 months - it lasted much longer for me (I went off it because of side effects). In the brand-name form, these drugs are $$$$$.

There is a generic Prozac (Fluoxetine) for the last year or so and comes in several different dosages. I take 3 20 mg pills because the 40 and 60 mg cost more. I have insurance and I pay $7.00 per month for 90 pills.
As far as the nine months, I don't know where that came from, I've been on it for probably 15 years off and on. Tried effexor for about a year and that was a disaster. I've always called Prozac a miracle drug.
