I was just reading some post and though I would ask someone anyone this question. My husband sometimes has these shakes like he's cold in fact he says that he is cold, but no one esle is. He has no fever at all when this happen. He really shivers alot his teeth even chatter. It goes away after 15-20 min. This has happen 4 to 5 times within 8-9 months. The first time was right before our son play off game and he though it was because he was exited then it happen right before he had heria surgy, so we took it that he was nervous of his surgey. He had a few while recuperateing from surgey, but now he is fine. He had one of them last night so I'm concerned. Can someone help me? This is scarey. Could his nerve be shot? I'm in tears someone help?

It may be hypoglycemia. (low blood sugar)Sometimes when a person with low blood sugar gets hungery or burns a lot of calories quickly, their blood sugar can take a big dive. This causes tremors, weaknes and the person can even pass out. It's not dangerous unless it becomes very frequent. If your husband is over forty, he should see his doctor about it anyway just to be sure.
The treatment for an infrequent problem is pretty simple. He needs to eat balanced meals on time every day. If he like to eat sweet stuff, he should eat it on a balanced meal so he won't peak and then crash. Reasonable exersize helps. If your husband is into athletics or is away from home a lot, he needs to carry some kind of energy food. Granola bars have both simple and complex carbohydrates so they give a quick boost and long lasting energy. They keep good in the car trunk too.
At home, keep a couple 12oz cans of apple or orange juice in the fridge. If your husband gets the shakes, a can of juice should help him recover. I advise against candy because it can lead to a second, even bigger crash.
