View Full Version : Prozac and dreams

After much persuasion from my doctor, I finally went back on prozac about a month ago to help with my anxiety and depression. I had stopped taking it earlier this year because I thought I could cope without the medication, but I soon got worse again.

I felt a bit strange for the first few days of taking it, but then everything seemed to settle down. The only side effect I have now is really vivid dreams. I NEVER used to dream before I took prozac, but now I have 3 or 4 very vivid dreams per night and sometimes I'll wake up from them absolutely drenched in sweat! They're not bad dreams, but they do irritate me a little because I keep waking up all night long.

Has anyone else had this with prozac? And is there anything I can do to stop it happening?

Thanks... Phoebe

Why not enjoy the dreams and have fun with them? :D

Because they're not particularly nice dreams, lol. They're not about horrible things but they're really strange and random. I wouldn't mind, but waking up sweating every night is not fun.

Hey, that happened to me when I first started taking Prozac. It seems like the dreams lasted maybe a year or two, and were also related to stress. I was on Prozac for years, but the dreams did go away. I wouldn't worry about it, just get plenty of sleep... I needed a lot of extra sleep when I was on Prozac.
