I have been taking Ativan for approximately 6 months in varying degrees. Initially it was 3x /day at 1mg. I am now taking Zoloft, 50mg, for about a month and don't want to be on 2 meds. Having been on many medications in the last few months (following surgery etc) I know the best method is to step down.
However, 5 days ago I just threw away the Ativan entirely. I had been taking to help with sleep. Since then I have trouble sleeping, am dizzy and lightheaded. I have a call into my pychiatrist but wondering if anyone else had this experience?
Thanks

ativan is a valium type sleeping pill and zoloft is a prozax type med, both go well together
ativan should be gradually tapered off
is the zoloft helping? the dose should probably now be upped, ask doc

Dizziness and light headedness are common symptoms of benzodiazepine withdrawal. If it gets unbearable you could put the Ativan back in and taper off it slowly. But you would want to do this soon, before any flood gets let out. If you are experiencing Ativan withdrawals, hopefully your symptoms will be mild and end shortly.
