Hi, I am on Day 4 of using Zyban and doing good so far! I am still smoking about 1/2 pack a day and my only symptom so far is dry mouth. My question is, I saw on my usage directions for Zyban that using NRT with it can greatly increase the chances of quitting, and does anybody know if this is true? I then read that this could also cause heart problems and seizures. If this is ok, I was planning on smoking the first week and quit on the second week using 150mg of Zyban and 14mg patch. Thanks!

Well, according to zyban.com:
Yes, ZYBAN and nicotine patches can be used at the same time but should only be used together under the supervision of your healthcare professional. Using ZYBAN and nicotine patches together may raise your blood pressure. Your healthcare professional will probably want to check your blood pressure regularly to make sure that it stays within acceptable levels. DO NOT SMOKE AT ANY TIME if you are using the nicotine patch or any other nicotine product along with ZYBAN. It is possible to get too much nicotine and experience serious side effects.

Does anyone know if you can start Zyban after already beginning to use the Patch? I stopped smoking and started on the patch 5 days ago. I want to talk to my doctor next week about adding Zyban but I didn't know if it was too late for me to start it.
My cravings come and go. I'm a little worried about facing my first weekend but I am dedicated to stopping.
Any info about this would be helpful!

The manufacturers of zyban did not make that up. Yes it is true. They wouldn't be allowed to put it in their package instructions if it weren't.

I've had a few friends that used the combo, and it worked for them...
..so I say--go for it!
Best of luck to you both! :)

I know this is an old thread but Im on day 31 of patch and Zyban together.
I was on 50 a day no chance of quitting but im doing it.
take one 150mg Zyban for the first 10 days and continue to smoke, try cutting down though. on the 11th day take 2 tabs and stop smoking, yeah right, I was really struggling that first day until I put a 21mg patch on and wham job done. couldnt believe it not hard at all after that but now cutting down the patch strength and some days non at all. I will make it this time.
Good luck!!
