Hello Everybody, Just an up-date the arthroscopic surgery yesterday 12/14/04, so now my left shoulder is hopefully fixed. Had a hooked acromion that was pinching the rotator cuff tendons and alot of bone spurs which have been removed. Everything went very well, and after 5 hours I could go home. A little sore and pain in the surgical area (3 cuts) which is I suppose normal. Getting dressed is a challenge, or just going potty and doing everything onehanded :p But hopefully this will be it for surgeries now and no more pain in the near future. Monday is the start of the PT program. I am doing pretty good, much better then coming out of the cervical surgery. I want to wish all of you a hopefully painfree X'mas and thanks for listening, Martina

Hi Aspen, thanks for the response :)
Well. I made it through the first PT, it went quiet well, but tonight my shoulder really hurts bad and its all red too. Oh well, I have 3 times a week PT for the next month and then we see how I am doing. Wednesday the stitches will come out, I have three cuts, one big and 2 little. Its the first time I see my doc after the surgery too and it will be interesting to see what she has to say. my hubby said she snipped off alot of bone and that I have a very lose joint in the arm, she also said to him something about a fusion, when my hubby told me I was going like oh no, so I am not sure if it was a joke since she just did the fusion in my neck, so the visit should be interesting. I will let you know. So far they all told my hubby, "she will be hurting for a while", yeap, it hurts alot and my fingers are even swollen they look like little sausages hanging on my hand, and I do need alot of pain meds, does anybody know what the recovery time is for this type of surgery?? The onehanded business is a real challenge :P well lets hope that I will be able to use both hands soon again, thanks for listening, good night, Martina

Good to hear from you Molly, Just make sure you keep us informed of your recovery process. My shoulder still hurts when I raise it. My NS and ortho doc dont know what my trouble is. The NS says I dont have any more pinched nerves in the neck according to my MRI. (although he wants me to get a mylegram),My MRI on my shoulder shows no tear, so my ortho doc says its my neck. I am getting seconds from some Docs in Houston. If my shoulder and armpit was causing me no problems and would be well on my way of recovery.
Hows is your neck doing? everything ok with that? How long did your doc say your recovery would be with your shoulder? I have heard a shoulder can take up to 6 months also to fully recover.
Good Luck Molly
