View Full Version : perforated ear drum

about 2 weeks ago I had an ear infection. I got medicine for the infection and started taking it. The next day I flew with no pain. While I was out of town I finished all of my infection medication and went back on the airplane to come back home. This time I had LOTS of ear pain. I quickly went back to the doctor.
The doctor told me that I had lots of ear wax and that I should come back in a week to have it flushed. I came back, had my ear flushed, and found out that I had a perforated ear drum. I had no pain, just very little hearing.
I am now concerned about a couple of things:
#1-- that I had an excessive amount of water in my ear while having it flushed even while I had a perforated ear drum. What might happen?
#2-- Is my hearing going to come back? I am a violinist and I am very concerned about my hearing
Please help me!

Hi

This sounds very unpleasant. I haven't had any experience with this particular condition. I do however get fluid build up in my ear from congestion.

I think the best thing to do is go back to your doctor and tell them your concerns. Or I'm sure someone on this board has experienced something similar to you.

Sorry I can't be much help. I hope everything works out.

Kelly
