AHHH!! starting to get extremly nervous. My fusion for 2-levels will be on tuesday, when I went to my pre-op on monday they didnt know alot well basically she told me they would go through my stomach didnt know if they would be using donar bone or my own from my hip, she said if they use my bone I will definetly feel the pain in my hip [there wouldnt be a seperate incision they could reach from my incision from my stomach??] She didnt know rather or not my doc will have me wear a corsett or not. She also didnt know or rather my doc didnt know how much hardware he was going to use, does this sound right to you all??

congrats on your surgery date! The pre op is usually just blood tests, things like that....I wouldn't think they'd know the little details...although the bone graft thing doesn't seem so little does it now?? I FINALLY (after 2 months of begging to get in to this dr) got mine sched for the 29th. Good thing because after the 1st of the year my companies insurance plan changes and I would have been out a 500$ deductible + 10% of "ALL COSTS" hospital, surgeon, etc... as it is now the whole thing will cost me 100$!! :bouncing:
but, I digress,,,,not my thread...Do you have another pre op visit w/your doctor to ask him??? If not, maybe call the office and ask those questions and have him call you back. Good luck with your surgery. I know Mel had one or has one coming up.....mine on te 29th, stardust is having one....i can't remember the others but we will all have one another to help through this thing regardless!!! Good luck and I will be thinking of you! ;)

Hi Cindy, as for the pre op ...they really do not have the details of the surgery. I wrote down a list of last min. questions for my Dr. and faxed them to him asking him (or his nurse) to call me when they had some time to answer my answers. The nurse called me the next day and had all my questions. As for the corset, if you are going to need one, ask if you can be fitted for it prior to surgery. It was only because I asked that question on my list, that they told me I was going to have one. If I had not asked they were going to have me fitted in the hospital (after the surgery). Whe I went to be fitted for it, the therapist explained how good it was that I was comming in prior to the surgery. He explained that when they go to the hospital to fit the patient...it's quite painful.

Hugs and prayer to both of you, Cindy and shakarkia,

Lorie
