About a month ago I ate a bowl of cereal for breakfast and my stomach has not been right since. The morning I ate the cereal I became very bloated and began to have upper abdominal pain. I didn't think much of it, went to work had coffee, pop, kept on going. That afternoon I became very ill with diaherra and gas. Since then I still have gnawing pain between my breast bone. I went to the GP and he put me on Protonics which I have been on now for about 10 days. It has helped but my stomach rumbles and gurgles a lot and I still have that upper abdominal gnawing pain. Nights can feel like my stomach is on fire along with the rumbling and gurgling. Went to see a gastro specialist and he sent me for a gall bladder ultrasound which I had done yesterday. I have an appointment on January 7th for an endoscopy. Also had an abdominal x-ray in the ER which came out normal (yes, I have been to the ER, that's how bad the night pain can get!). Can they detect any outside tumors around the stomach with the abdominal x-ray? I know I am start to freak here - but my dad died of stomach cancer that was misdiagnosed as an ulcer. Never had any stomach problems before that fateful morning after breakfast one month ago. Anyhow, any thoughts on this? Ulcer, acid reflux? Gastritis?
Thanks,

I had gastritis before and never really got over it. Now they're saying I have severe reactive gastropathy. Your symptoms sound a lot like mine when things are acting up. Does your pain increase shortly after eating or sometimes even just drinking something?

Hi Twisten:
Drinking will not cause pain, usually after eating it will come on. Another symptom that I have is a lot of belching. So strange how this stomach stuff can start up. Two months ago I didn't even know what stomach problems were. I guess I don't need to tell you that it gets tiresome after a while (not to mention worrisome).

Hi there. I have a similar thing I also have had the Upper GI, it was normal too. I had been put on acid reducers which really seemed to work,no rumbling no pain, perfect for about 3 weeks the the symptoms started to come back even on the meds, they got so bad the burning and pain below my ribcage I went to urgent care and they put me on something else which seems to work. I was booked for an abdominal ultrasound to check arounf the stomach to make sure nothing was pressing on it and to check the other organs like the gallbladder. I nes something was wrong when the tech. kept asking me if the same area hurt that she was going over so I glansed at the screen and she had 3 round areas like marbles marked 1,2,3. Well she can,t give me any info all I new was that was not my stomach, so it was either my gallbladder or liver so of course I flipped myself out wondering what was wrong now, and just today the doctor called and I have 3 healthy gallstones, so now I have to go and see if the stomach pain I have is related to the gallstones or coincidental. See if you can get an ultrasound next, you could rule a few things out. Good luck Sandra
