I have been having a bit of a problem, not with sleeping, but when I wake up, I have my teeth clenched so tight you couldnt pry them apart with a 4x4, I notice it & then release, then the rest of the day my jaw is sore obviously & sometimes leaves me with headaches. I have heard of this problem & its never happened to me before & I am worried about the welfare of my teeth, also if I dont have my teeth clenched, I notice I have my tongue pressed extremely hard against my top teeth/roof of mouth. I just took note of it about a couple months ago. I am wondering if this could move my teeth or cause damage? I hear its alot from stress, true? I do have alot of stress in my life right now, Are there any remedies for this other than a bite plate, I know there is no way I could sleep with some gadget in my mouth, but have nice teeth & dont want them bent up because of this problem.

a football mouthguard or splint from a dentist will prevent overclosing of the jaw and allow the teeth to move around
jaw clenching and tooth grinding are common anxiety related problems, so learn to relax and get more exercise
tooth grinding is said by some dentists to be the main cause of tooth and filling damage
