I am so sick of being sick, once a month, I can't handle this anymore.

I woke up yesterday with a sore throat and felt hoarse, I was coughing a little all day and the sneezing was horrendous, but yet I felt okay.

Last night before I went to bed I had gotten so much phlegm caught in my throat I could barely breathe, I tried to cough it up but to no avail so I just went to bed.

This morning I woke up with this phlegm again and my throat was sore when I first woke up but it doesn't hurt so much now but when I swallow there is the phlegm that I am fighting with.

Is there anything I can take or do just to get rid of this stinky phlegm, other than the phlegm I can deal with this thing.

coming from someone with a NORMALY insane immune system, this whole sickness this season has been quite unexpected.
im having pretty much the same thing as you, only with more problems with my nose. loads of post nasal drip and such.
i suggest a hott bath, some hott tea loaded up with vitamin C powder, pleanty of water and tissues, and SLEEP. the steam from the tea and bath will loosen up the icky stuff, and the C will get your immune sytem working again. as for the water, tissues, and sleep...well, those are pretty obvious.

What is vitamin C powder? Is it the emergenC stuff. I am going out to buy it now!!

"Mucinex" (over counter) will help thin mucous in throat. I have a bug, called tracheal bronchitis and saw doc this norning. I had been using the following and he said that was great. Salt water sinus irrigation, 2-Way saline nasal spray, Beconase, Afrin, cough syrup, Robitussin, vaporizers going. Doc said I needed to take the Mucinex also. Remember, Mucinex is over the counter but if you do not find it, ask pharmacist for it. Sometimes they keep it in the back.

If you tolerate anahistamines/deconjestants, they may be of help to you.

Mucinex is a tablet form of Robitussin, but stronger, that thins the mucous.

Doc also prescribed Z-Pak antibiotic. He says it will take 2 weeks to get over this and may need a second round of antibiotic.

I have coughed so much my ribs/muscles are sore.

I have read that salt water irrigation helps to prevent getting sick as well as helps to get well. It cuts loose the mucous high up in sinuses.

I know what you are going through. This is my 3rd time I am sick in 3 months and this is so stupid. I never get sick and if I do I usually get sick maybe 3 times a year at the most not 3 times in 3 consective months. I am going to the DR tomorrow to see what is up. I hope it is just a nasty cold but something tells me it is the FLU or something. Get well JC and let's hope these colds go away for good.

Okay now this is weird.........................

It has basically been exactly a month and I am sick again.

I was sick on the 18 of last month went on vacation, the cold went away 6 days later, I was feeling fine.

Yesterday morning I woke up with a sore throat, I had like no energy yesterday with a bad headache, didn't feel like doing much of anything, now today this sore throat is killing me, I can't swallow without it hurting me, I keep drinking and drinking hoping it will go away, now I am sneezing like there is no tomorrow, I sneeze 3 times every 10 minutes my nose is a little stuffy and hurts because when I blow there is some blood, I don't know if this is allergies, or a cold, or sinuses.

I feel helpless, I am taking all sorts of vitamins right now and have been taking them ever since I got sick last month.

I just don't understand that I am getting sick every month, can anyone tell me what you all think, if I don't go crazy, I will definitely die, lol

Added on 1-18-05: I woke up this morning and my nose was so sore I couldn't touch it, after I got out of the shower I was able to blow some of that crap out of it and there was blood in it. Does that mean my sinuses are screwed up in all of this?

Don't feel bad...I am sick now with a nasty cold like thing...for the 3rd time in 3 months also!! And it all feels like the same crap coming back, but I know it's not....I wish summer would just get here! :( Charlotte
