I have been having symptoms for almost 2 years now. I always seemed to have a break during the month with a week or so feeling ok. NOw I feel crummy everyday of the month. Is this normal? I don't have all the symptoms each day but I feel fuzzy, achy, blah almost everyday. Does anyone else feel like this? Thanks.

Hi Captain14,
It's normal and common to feel crummy everyday of the month (for several months even and hopefully not for years! ) during the pause. I don't think the world of the medical field realizes how bad this whole menopause thing can be. I can see why women in the old days were put into insitutions! The level of intensity w/of the symptoms are so unbearable! For me, I was pretty much symptom-free during 40's and healthy and strong as an ox but what I went thru when I turned 50 was so unbearable - I just wanted to die! Please keep in mind that this is temporary, that it will go away. Can't say how long it will last for you b/c it's different for everyone. My mom said she went thru it 52 so with me, the timing was pretty much right on time. If you know when your mom/sisters went thru it, you might get a better idea on how long you will have to be dealing w/all this crap. Hang in there and take one day at a time!
Do hope you will start feeling better soon!

To answer your questions, yes, I do feel blah just about everyday. There are periods of time during the day that I might feel okay...I'm so thankful for those moments.
Are you taking vitamins or hormones during this time?

Hi Molly, I wish I was as strong as an ox in my 40's. My symptoms started at 41. I feel like an insecure idiot! I was confident in my 30"s. Wasnt bothered by gettin up infront of people etc. Not now! The anxiety is terrible!

I went off birth control pills about 3 months ago and the symptoms are worse now. I had been on the pill for 12 years. I take a b complex and cal/mag. Also a multi. Thats it right now. I have a physical on the 28th and at that time my dr said she would have my hormones tested. I still get my period so I don't know if the test will matter. I guess the reason I asked about feeling awful is that in the back of my mind I think could this be something else. Thanks for all your help. I do try to exercise but I know I don't always eat right and I know that would make a difference.

You will know once you get your test results back. YOu should have your Dr. check for everything... CBC and thyroid, just as a starting point. If you are just starting peri-menopause, your hormone tests may not show anything. It's more of symptoms that they go by in that case. What you described as symptoms were what happened to me when I first noticed things changing. After that, I went into irratic periods and gushing, then skipping and hot flashes, etc. ... that's been about 5 years... and yes, it is different for everyone.

Hi Pslam,
you haven't posted in a while....how have you been? What's going on with you? I've always been really healthy, someone who never gets even a cold, think I had the flu once in my entire life too. That was part of my problem tho - b/c I wasn't ever sick and when I did started getting my bad symptoms late last year, I had an extremely difficult time dealing with it. I am also very self-righteous (something my ex-boss had a problem with), and think I'm really direct and down-to-earth. I've always hated talking in front of people tho - esp. in the white collar business world...maybe b/c I know people really don't care what you're saying anyway! LOL! Now, if they wanted to talk about dogs and fun stuff, that's a different story for me - I would have no problems at all!
Don't disappear for so long - keep posting here and let some of us help you thru what you're dealing with!!!

Hi Molly! I couldnt access my password for awhile. HB changed it on me. I also have been selling on ebay, so I am on that site everyday. I am hanging in there. The internal jitters are not fun, but I find that calms forte is helping alot. I am starting a new supplement for the anxiety called L-theanine. It comes from green tea. Ladies can do a search on HB and the web to read up on it. I am waiting to start. I thought I would start on the 20th and I am waiting!!!!! I have a tension headache(hormone headache!) Nice talking to you Molly! I will try to talk more often!
