Have you had her checked for Mitral Valve Prolapse Syndrome? I had panick/anxiety at a young age it started around puberty. Then it subsided somewhat until stressful times in my life. I never took any meds, but in college I started passing out all the time for no reason, they found my blood pressure was out of whack. Which led to the thought after discussing other symptoms with my doctor that I might have MVPS. Mine is purely physical/chemical. An echocardiogram confirmed the heart murmer, and the diagnosis was complete. I've never been on any meds, though my panic and anxiety has gotten somewhat worse later, I've learned to control it with diet, excersise, and "mind over matter" techniques.
MVP is also hereditary and most common in women. My grandmother has it too, she never had her first symptoms until she was widowed and went through menopouse shortly thereafter.
Does she have other symptoms like lightheadness or fainting, blood sugar issues, allergies? Do her hands shake all the time, even when she's not panicking? I can't hold my hands steady to save my life. Other common complaints are irritable bowels (particularly with stress) very sensitive sense of smell/gag reflex, oversensitivity to medication, cold hands/feet. The most common complaint with MVPS is when you first lay down to go to sleep at night, you can feel your heart beating, skipping beats, or beating very irregularly.
Need anymore info just ask. Good luck to you.

Was there something that caused her to have anxiety? Why I ask is my 11 year old had a heat stroke at daycare 2 summers ago and she wet her pants during it, she was really in a panic about going back to school...she was afraid that if it was hot she would have another one and would pee her pants and get teased, she is a pretty popular kid its not like she really gets teased like some other kids ...man kids be so cruel.
The first day of school she called me at work and pretty much refused to get on the bus ...she pysicly got sick...I had to get really MAD for her to finialy get on the bus....she became obsesed about the weather needing to know how hot it was going to be that day ...she would wake up really early or stay up late just to see what the weather was going to be the following day she was afraid that if it was hot she would have another one and would pee her pants and get teased...by the way we live in MN so it is not really hot...only for about the first month of schooll, Dring her confrenses i had told her teacher about what happened and she sugested that i have her talkto the social worker at school and I must say it truly helped her.
She has always been a little "nervous" and it has gotten much better since she talked to her.
Good luck.

I've learned that when my daughter has something she is worried about, she will have tantrums, and I am concerned about her anxiety or becoming depressed. She is always playing with her hands in some way, and I notice her scratching herself alot. I used to get mad at her for getting "dramatic" and now I know this made her worse. She is shy and anxious and it comes out in her hand movement, she is seven, and I am so worried, I am thinking about getting her into counseling again. Counseling has helped before.
