 My 70-year old mother who is healthy and active has suffered from headaches for several years. They occur about twice a year but last for 2 to 8 weeks. She feels a daily pressure and burning at the top of her head, which is usually worse in the morning. She has had cat scans, ultrasounds but not MRI yet because it is not covered by insurance. Should she demand one? If the doctor recommends it, it might be covered. Her primary care guy is an endocrinologist. She has also been to a neurologist. They claim that it is a migraine or tension headache even though she assures us she is under no stress and her symptoms are not those of migraine-sufferers. She occasionally breaks out in a sweat and feels shaky or trembles. She is quite frightened, although all blood tests and other exams show no abnormalities other than moderate hypertension, which she takes medication for.

She also has a dull ache where her right ovary is and some pain in the upper-abdominal area. She is otherwise healthy and has never been sick. Has anyone ever heard of this top of the head pain? Does anyone know of a connections between early-onset of ovarian cancer and headaches? We want to rule out the worst.

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear about the troubles with your mother. My grandmother died a year ago of ovarian cancer and she did not suffer from head aches before or during he cancer. The doctors told us that ovarian cancer can be hard to identify until it's too late. If you have suspisions then you should deff. check it out. But it seems most symptoms involve loss of appetite and inabilty to contain food.

I am a young woman and I suffer from headaches at the top of the head. Just to let you know that it doesn't necessarily mean they are linked and yes, people do have them.

I have been having headaches on top of my head on and off for over 8 months. I was diagnosed with tmj but I never really pursued getting the splint. Originally, when the headaches started, they were one sided and in the temple area. Then they ultimately landed on top of my head. The bumps on top of my head are very very sore and they hurt when you touch them. My headaches are right there. Feels like someone in twisting the inside of the top of my head. What relief can I get?

Yes I get them on the top of my head on the left side instead of the right. Mine is from a rotated hip. Now the ovary thing my momma had those same signs but with nausea also. She thought it was her period. After hours of chaging her maxi pad every 60 min to every 10 min my dad rushed her to the hospital after she collapsed on the floor. We he got her to teh Er she was DOA. Thankfully the Dr. shocked her heart a couple of times and got a rythm then started to give her blood. That is when they found out that she had a cyst that was the size of a golfball that burts. In the process of bursting it torn her insides. They sewed it up and gave her 4 and 1/2 pints of blood and 2 pints of plazma. Two week hospital stay and was able to come home.

After her cyst burst all the pains of her childhood accidents when away. She was hit in the eye with a ball, had pains her in chest, got splitting migraines, pains in her knee, toes bothered her, and a few others but after it burts she has not had a pain anywhere in her body from her old accidents.
The Dr. told her that the cyst was causing her to produce to much estrogene and hormones that casued all those thngs to hurt. Now that her estrogene and hormones are back to normal all is well.

It's best to visit a Dr, soon if pains do not go away. Wish you luck.

Jenteal
