Woke up this morning with a cold. I coughed so hard that something happened and now my head hurts!!! It hurts from the back of my head all the way up over to the top of my head.(all on the right side) The pain hasn't stopped and everytime I have to cough or sneeze, I feel like my head is going to explode. It even hurts to touch my head. Any ideas as to what the heck I did to it? Hope I didn't break a vein or something. It's starting to worry me. Thanks all.

Hi Donna...I don't think it's a sinus problem. Something happened when I coughed. If I (try)put my chin down to my chest, I can really feel the pain, almost like something is pulling???? Not really sure how to descibe it. Any other suggestions or ideas folks? Thanks again.

Sounds like you pulled a muscle when you coughed. The neck and head muscles are all connected, and there is a tough tissue also covering the skull that can be pulled just like a muscle can, causing pressure and headaches. You could try massage therapy, physical therapy, or cranial therapy, where they knead the tightness out of these muscles.
