View Full Version : Want to remove perm, get rid of curls

I got a perm about a month and a half ago. The curls are, of course, less tight than they were originally. I now want my hair to be completely straight, and lay down. I realize that putting more chemicals in my hair could ultimately damage my hair, so I need to be careful. Are there any gentle products out there that would allow me to get rid of my curls without damaging my hair? If not, how long will it be before my chemically treated curls go away? The salon told me 6 months before I got another perm, but I don't want to wait that long.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

I would suggest you NOT do a straightener, but use shampoo/conditioner, etc for straight hair.....

They contain smoothers and are a bit heavier and will help to encourage the curl to relax.

As well, they will keep your hair in better condition.

The other option would be to comb perm solution through your hair until it's relaxed enough, rinse then use neutraliser for 5 minutes and then rinse. Follow with a good conditioner.

A straightener would damage your hair toooo much as it's meant for naturally curly hair which has a different texture.
