i come here seaking answers and dont mean to insult those who have cancer by my potential trivial problem, but i have a question. i keep getting muscle spasms in my lower back followed by pain and ache for days. it feels like electric shocks going through my entire body and is very painful.i have twinges in my back when this happens too. ive looked it up on the net and get a few different things. one of them being cancer of the spine or tumours. now i do worry about my health but i dont go overboard by looking up every little thing. the reason i am concerned is that i had a friend who was 27 pass away from this kind of cancer 2 yrs ago and seeing what it did to him petrifies me! my brain is not making up these symptoms but i wondered what other symptoms there are.

Why don't you get checked out by a Dr and request a CT scan? I have stage 4 breast cancer (I'm 27 years old) with metastasis to my spine and the pain is unbearable if I don't take my pain meds. I don't mean to frighten you, but get it checked out.

i reread my post and think i may have worded it a bit wrong!! i said i keep getting it but i dont keep getting it!! i had this spasm about 2 months ago and i had no ache afterwards then i had it this sat from reaching slightly to grab something. it feels like a tens machine that tightens my muscle but is painful. this was followed by aching but i think that as because i walked it off instead of relaxing. then it started to get better with ice and advil. then last night i went out again and got a sudden twinge so im not sure if it just didnt heal itself. i made a doc appt tomm night and living here in canada we are having long waits i believe for scans but i guess ill find that out for myself. i know this prob isnt cancer and i feel for you that do have it but i just wanted to know symptoms of those that have had it or know someone that does. i am concerned but i always worry!!! and i havent been able to get much more info other ways.

Hayley,
What you're describing sounds a lot more like a muscular problem than anything else. You may have just moved the wrong way and pulled something. If it happens again, or still bothers you, I would recommend seeing either a chiropractor or an orthopedic doctor.

Hayley -
Did your doctor suggest doing anything for the scoliosis? Sometimes they can give you special exercises to make your back stronger, and sometimes they may even suggest wearing a brace to keep your back as straight as possible. Mild scoliosis isn't bad, but it can get worse as you get older (still not a major, life-threatening illness, thank goodness), and there may be some things you can do now to keep it from getting any worse.

Glad to hear that's all it is, though. Hope you have a happy holiday and a great new year.

Ruth
