Has exercise helped to relieve any of your TMJ symptoms, esp. the muscle tension in the neck, shoulders, and jaws?

I have to say for me I have been doing power yoga, and karate and I think they both help when i am feeling good. My problem is I still try when I don't feel so good, and then that can cause a problem.. just be careful, start slow find you comfort zone. Exercise is always really good for stress release muscle tension ect...
good luck

I think certain exercises are good for any of us regardless of TMD. I have TMD and fibromyalgia and just to stay limber enough to move, and combat the fatigue/depression/pain that goes along with FM and TMD, I do a combination of low impact aeorbics (brisk walking on treadmill or outside), toning (Kathy Smith's Lift Weights to Lose Weight 2), and get massages twice a month.
Some days are just better than others for pain tolerance. If I'm having a bad "flare" of FM, I just take muscle relaxers and back off on the exercise routine.
Just don't overdo exercises because that can cause more problems. As far as specific TMD exercises, I don't really know.
