Hey :)
This is my first time on this site. After reading some of your other letters i was wondering if you could help me. I don'r know if i hve an ED, i don't think i do, or not serious anyway. I always watch what i eat and skip meals. I try to eat just at tea time. I have started to throw up my food as often as i can but find it dosent always work and i don't know why. When it dosen't i get annoyed with myself so won't eat for awhile. I try not to eat for a few days then eat alot then try to throw it up. I like to excersise alot, i walk bike and run everyday for awhile and hate it when i don't. I don't like what i see when i look in the mirror, thats why i do it. I just want to lose a bit of weight, then i'll stop. If you could tell me what you think it would really help. Im in two minds and don't know what to do.

Thanks
Ummm

Yes, it sounds like you have an eating disorder, and a serious one at that.

If this is relatively new to your life, or even if it's not, you should try to seek help from anyone, professional or not. Just go to someone you trust. Believe me, once you get ankle deep in an ED and keep walking, it becomes almost impossible to ever return.

I think it sounds like you do have an ED. About the part when you said " I'll just loose a bit of weight and then stop" Thats not good, because if you loose weight by an eating disorder, throwing up, or skipping meals. You will gain all of the weight back, and maybe some more. NOTHING ever is good about an eating disorder. 2 yrs ago I was heavy into it, and I lost 30lbs, but my skin was yellow, and I looked sick. I stopped and I gained it back plus some. It is just better to exercise and eat right. Good luck.

Just so you know, and don't get any deeper into this just to keep the weight off.. Erin122 isn't necessarily right. I didn't gain back any of the weight I lost during my first round with an ED.

Yes, it is serious enough...and you must know that too, otherwise you wouldn't be asking. You should tell SOMEBODY...ANYBODY!!! HOw old are you? Try telling your parents...

Yes, you do have an eating disorder.
Go the behaviorial way: DON'T VOMIT ANYMORE....
Your "core" problem can be dealt with later.
See what you can do with :NEVER VOMIT!

 ~~~ Hey Ummm, I have known many people with ED, including my Mother who attempted to "Control" my eating habits as well as hers. I had family that was very aware & they all made sure that food was not made an "issue" around my brother & I. The key word is Control, there is safety in that. And they are dicovering that ED's are heredatory, so maybe you observed a close faimly member?, there is alot of attention (deservidly so) to people that starve, puke & binge. It is life threating, & it is an addiction, so please get "clean", find the tools for a recovery now, you have made the first step, asking for help, please let us know how you are, & how your trusted ear reacted to yor honest reachout, Peace & pain free days sent in your direction.

Kisa
