Hi everyone. This week my doctor told me i have fatty liver and i have to lose some weight pronto. I've been overweight pretty much all my life. I've cut off all fat in my diet and am eating healthy etc. I've tried to excercise but i've been really light-headed because certain foods i have been eating my stomach doesnt accept and i get dizzy for up to 3 hours or so but its getting better. I also find it hard to breath on my right side which is above the liver. Can anyone offer any advice on what i can do to kick start my diet and what foods are great for fatty liver as well as any low key excercise. Also is the breathing problem a part of fatty liver, what other symptoms are usually associated with it. Any advice on how to cope with fatty liver would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance Anne

You said you have a fatty liver. Have you ever been a heavy drinker, had sugar diabetes, high fats in your blood or used some type of medication for a good amount of time? Have you had any trouble with high blood pressure, chest pain or heart problems or have you had any trouble at all with high blood sugar? I have a similar problem that runs in my family and in the past 6 months I have lost 60 pounds for a joint problem but also this disease may cause me trouble at my age. My father has this disease and it seems to run in my family. I lost my weight by going on a low fat and very low carb with no simple sugar diet and exercise at the same time. I would ask my doctor before you go on this diet as it seems to take away a lot of hunger but is very rough metabolically. Also I was told that walking or swimming or lifting weights are excellent ways to get exercise. I would ask my doctor about which of these exercises you can do. I want to make one point though-please check with your own doctor on what type of exercise he suggests for you. So avoid fats and concentrated sweets and exercise away.

Hi I am 24 and was diagnosed with fatty liver disease 2 years ago. I was a little overweight as well. I was told by my specialist to go on a 30grms of fat diet and to cut my calories to 800 daily. I also found that alot of power walking has brought both my weight and liver enzymes down. I hope that Iwas able to be helpful. Oh I use this book called the low fat, nofat cookbook they have so many good reciepes with 0 to 5 grams of fat per serving.
