Does anyone who suffers with Gerd ever have a dry mouth/bad/metalic taste caused from Gerd? I do take Nexium/prevacid alternating about every day. It seems like it really comes on if I eat something really sweet or drink lemonade or eat something spicy like a red sauce or something. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

From what I have been told, staying away from acids such that are found in spicy foods and red sauces helps alot. I find that sugary stuff makes me cough alot. The proper diet thing is real important in battling GERD. How long have you been on Nexium & Prevacid? I have been taking Nexium 2x a day since late October and have experimented with spicy foods and chocolate and coffee. None of it to date makes me feel good, which stinks because it is all the stuff I love. I think it is long term changes in diet with this GERD stuff.
Give it a try. Green veggies and chicken and applesauce have become a way of life for me. I tried aloe vera juice too. Not very tasty but it helps alittle.
Good Luck to you.

Hi Guys,
I have Gerd treated with Nexium for a year now. I was told that I could tolerate any foods with the Nexium and that was not true. I had problems with coffee, chocolate, spicy foods, late night eating, etc. etc. Did a lot of coughing too and had lots of sinus trouble. I got so frustrated with the limited diet that I finally saw a GI doc who diagnosed me with constipation IBS which I never knew I had. He started treating that and all of the Gerd symptoms went away. I eat and drink everything now. Sometimes normal BM is not as normal as we think it is. Curious.......
