View Full Version : Do I have a Brain Tumour?

Hi I am having weird symptoms which is freaking me out can anyone help?

I have phases where I get headaches - not bad headaches but it seems to be when I concentrate on doing some work or playing a keyboard.

I have also for the past 3 weeks had slight constant headaches and a feeling of light headedness - Like I am a little bit dizzy. I feel a bit spaced out and if I walk I feel slightly off balance. I get a sudden feeling like my legs are going to give way.

When I sit and relax I feel like there is internal pressure in my head which runs all along my forehead and then I get a sudden feeling of anxiety and that any second I will have a massive heamorage and die.

When I sneeze I see like millions of (dont laugh) only what can be described as sperm-like things spearing off in all different directions, then they fade.

My hands also feel weak when I clasp them and weirdest of all when I lay down to sleep at night the minute I close my eyes my mind starts wandering and I cant control random thoughts - Its like I am dreaming but awake. This scares me as when I open my eyes it stops but I worry what if I open my eyes one day and it doesnt stop? I also sleep for in excess of 11 hours a day.

I feel very argumentative and aggressive, I have become anti-social and honestly fear I am going to die.

Been to Doctor and he tried to pass it off as Anxiety and gave me Beta Blockers which did nothing. I am very happy right now in my life with no problems whatsover so cant say its anxiety. Doctor checked my eyes with that light instrument which can see pressure or swelling at the back and all normal - I have insisted that I see a Neuro Surgeon and he has agreed.

Could this possible be a brain tumour affecting me?

It is doubtfull this is a brain tumor. I had all these symptoms stemming from muscle problems with my neck and upper back. Headaches, pressure in the head, feeling off balance, not with it mentally, weakness in the hands, and the feelings when you lay down and close your eyes, can be caused by lack of appropriate blood flow ( oxygen ) to the brain, from something as simple as sitting at a keyboard too long, a computer, using muscles in a way they are not used to. If your MRI shows nothing wrong, ask to have your trigger points checked and referred to a physcial therapist to have these worked on if they are found to be the source of the problem. I had these symptoms and many more, and thought I was losing it mentally, and they were all caused by muscle spasms in my back and neck. Also, it is common for docs to miss this as the source unless you specifically ask that these trigger points be checked ( by the neuro. ). Good luck to you

Hello Axa, you'll be happy to hear this as much as I was when I did. :] Brain tumors normally do not cause headaches, so you probably don't have a tumor.
I have near the same symptoms as your describing. I feel 'odd' nearly all the time, and experienced headaches along with the feelings. I had my doctor do all blood work, then send me to a neurologist so I could have my brain looked at. Because I to was sure I had a tumor or even MS. Guess what, all clear! Nothing wrong. My headaches have stopped, but unfortunately the 'funny' feeling is still with me.

My neurologist tells me this feelings are a result of GAD. I am currently taking BuSpar, and the feeling comes and goes. Hope this reply soothes some of your worries. Wish you the best of heath.

I suggest if you haven't already had an MRI of your head with and without contrast that you ask for one. My daughter suffered with headaches and much pressure pain in her head. Also she had balance problems, visual problems, etc. These can all be associated with a brain lesion. Please, please insist on an MRI if you did not already have one. If you have an MRI please get a copy of the report because doctors do not always tell you everything.
I wish you the best. God bless you always.

It probably isn't a brain tumor, but like Dodger8 said, you should get the MRI with and w/o contrast to rule it out. I have a brain tumor, and I do get headaches. Headaches CAN be a symptom of a brain tumor, but in most cases it is caused by something less serious. Good luck.

Thanks for all your feedback...

I am indeed worried and although the headaches have stopped I have had a constant feeling of light headedness/dizziness since and I am worried I do have a tumour.

I am going to contact a Nuerologist on Monday and get an MRI done. I will push for one asap

Thanks again and I will keep you all posted!

Hi Axa,
Sometimes a low thyroid can create strange symptoms like you describe, i.e. need for alot of sleep, strange muscle weakness, altered mood. Do you find that you are cold all the time and have dry skin? The doc may order some thyroid blood tests to rule out this factor. Apparently the free T3 and the free T4 are the most reliable indicators. Your GYN doc or an endocrinologist may be able to help you to get to the bottom of this problem. Sorry I do not have any more knowledge than this. Good luck in your search.

Definately get checked out first but Anxiety can cause all those symptoms. Even if you dont feel like you are stressed you could be. I had alot of those symptoms and have been told its panic/anxiety disorder.
