Nail got almost ripped out completely by dog bite to the point of hanging off to one side. The whole matrix was out. The ER docs sewed the skin underneathe and inserted the matrix back under. I was really worried about losing my nail and sensitivity. But after seeing a specialist today; i am pretty happy with his analysis. He said the nail was healing fine and the reason the ER docs inserted the nail back under instead of removing:  is the scar tissue could've blocked the growth of new nail. I was told it will be a slow process. anywhere from 4 months for the old nail to grow out to a year for full new nail. He also told me that the healing color was unual but everything appeared to be fine. Hope this helps someone. Feel free to offer any advice. btw: no bone or nerve damage.. baruch ashem!
