Recently I have had pain in my groin area or where my legs join my torso. When I stand up it hurts terrible. Once up and I have taken a few steps there is no more pain. Has anyone else had this problem, what could it be?
I have searched the interenet for others who have had this and can not find anything, please help. My doctor says there is no problem. When I push on this area it is tender to touch.

Thanks.

It could very well be a hernia (I'm bad at spelling btw)
Also it could be a blocked artery. Femoral artery to be exact. My mother just recently got shunts put in because she was getting less than 50% blood circulation to her legs. When she would walk around in a grocery store, she described it like she had ran a couple of miles, you know that burning sensation when working out. But yeah, she had pains in that same area.

It could be many things, however, I have fibromyalgia (rheumatism) and sometimes in the groin when I stand up pain grabs me real quick, but, like you say, pain goes away after a few steps. This may be your problem also. Mine comes and goes especially with weather changes and usually catches me off guard.

Thanks I have thought of those things too. I sit at a computer for my job sometimes for hours at a time. My husband thinks I am just getting old, I am 43. Actually I do no exercise these days and have wondered if that is the reason too. It is painful to stand up and take my first steps. I grab onto nearby table or whatever till I can get going so to speak. Then I am fine. I haven't felt stiff like this when I stand up from laying down only from the sitting position.

I do worry about fyberm. because I have much body pain and have for years. My back at the neck/collar bone burns and feels like electic shocks when I get tired of sitting or standing. My wrists hurt, sometimes throb. Are any of these symptoms of that too?

Thanks so much!

Honestly, I tend to agree more with Hazzmat.

Pain in the groin area can be signs of many things including but not limited to cysts, hernia's, blocked arteries or clots and or pulled muscles.
If it is real painful and you are not comfortable with your doctor definately seek out a second opinion.

As far as the back/neck problem and wrists, well it could be FMS but it could also be an impingement or herniation of the C-spine which has the same symptoms, paticularly numbness of the digits.
A lumbar problem wouldn't cause groin pain but hip and back of the leg pain in addition to lower back so I doubt that's the issue.

FMS and CFS has a host of painful symptoms in various joints and areas that are not characterized by any redness or swelling. If in doubt see a rhuematologist who specializes in FMS to be "tested".
There's no blood test at this point in time for it, but more of a series of ruling out other illnesses. Check out the FMS board here for better information :)

Best of luck
