Hello all...HAPPY HOLIDAYS..

Remember me the whiner? I was worried about all the side effects of Lipitor.. well.. my doctor just put me on Vytorin. I didn't fill the prescription yet, I will after the holidays.
To the point.. does anyone know about the side effects of Vytorin? I know I know I can go on their web site and read all about it, but I wanted to know if anyone had first hand experience..

Thank you and have a Happy New Year :jester:

There's nothing *magical* about Vytorin...the big advantage is that the ZETIA (20mg Zocor +10mg Zetia) it contains allows one to use LESS statin to accomplish the same LDL lowering as a HIGHER statin dose alone. For example, 5mg Lipitor +Zetia is about as effective in lowering LDL as 20 mg Lipitor. Less Liptor=less side effects. Personally, I take 10 mg Crestor with a half dose Zetia (5 mg) and lowered my LDL from around 160 to 65..that's a whopping 60% drop in LDL with just 10mg of a statin. No problems either.

I had leg pain with both Lipitor and Vytorin. The worst was while on Vytorin. I had similar results with Crestor and Pravachol. However, everyone is different and it may not bother you. I suggest you try to purchase you prescription in a lessor quanity and see if you develop any problems, if not, buy the remainder of the prescription. That may save you a few dollars if you do have problems. Remember
everybody is different and the only way to know is to try the medication and see what happens.
