My name is Kevin and I am in Pain. I think it started about 8 years ago with teeth grinding and clinching at night. It prgressed to the point of requiring klonopin as a sedative because at that time i presented a plethora of anxiety symptoms. Recently, in Aug. of 2004 I came off the Klonopin but noticed that my lower teeth started to ache. this progressed for several months, symptoms worsening, intensens pain top of head around all teeth, pain behind nasal cavity. Treated x2 with antibiotics for possible sinus infection-that wasn't it. Saw a peridontist said my teeth arent perfect, need work, receeding gum tissue. Trip to neurologist, acupuncturist and then finally a PT facial pain specialist. His feeling was that years of grinding my teeth had partially dislocated my mandible (posterioraly sublexed) and the ridge of it is rubbing against my meniscus in an uncomfortabel way. It may be the edge of the meniscus where may nerve endings are located, a folded meniscus, or a torn meniscus. I also have very strange throat pain, feels like aching needlling pain. Have been doing exercises but they don't seem to help.
Started back on klonopin just because it takes some of the edge off. I feel like i want to pull my teeth out. Sleep with a mouthgaurd at night. Any ideas suggestions are helpful. Thanks, Kevin
