Is it okay to crush Ibuprofen pills or chew them before you take them? I have a problem swallowing pills and I used to crush or chew Advil(I know, nasstttyy lol) before I took them and I was fine, but is it really bad for u? What about Equate brand Ibuprofen?

i have done this and it is ok and ill tell u why. when someone takes like an antidepressent or something like that our bodies need it to be time released, so over a period of time, whereas when u take something like this you want it released all at once to relieve ur problem. i used to do this but now i can swallow pills i use to do this with gravol too. if ur not sure still call a pharmacist.

Crushing pills is fine for those that don't say otherwise. Some pills are time-released and you shouldn't crush or even cut those. Others have coatings on them because they are rough on the stomach. But as long as it doesn't say not to crush or chew, crush away.

Pills that say Enteric coated should not be crushed. My particular bottle of generic ibuprofen doesnt say anything about Enteric coated so I can crush them. The others are right that time release pills shouldnt be crushed.
