I recently had a laprascopy done to get pregnant. This was done on Dec 10. I'm still experiencing alot of side effects and when I call my doctor she keeps telling me I have to wait another couple days. I'm having severe bloating where I look like I'm 8-9 months pregnant. I haven't been able to eat more than a couple crackers at a time and was told by my doctor to not drink water just drinks like gatorade. I have basically been bedridden because of the pain, I'm not nauseated anymore which is good, but my stomach area is huge and I can't sit up for long periods of time or eat either. I'm also constipated. Could this be caused from not being able to eat or drink much and is this why my stomach is swollen. How much longer really is this going to last? My doctor only tells me to wait longer and it will get better. Any news about this would be great.

Lots of feces or gas can make ones belly protrude (its happened to me due to really bad constipation). I would make an appointment for a second opinion. You havent gone 17 days without a BM have you???? Many things are possible and instead of guessing I would go to urgent care today just to get checked out, if your belly is still protruding and you can barely eat anything for 2+1/2 weeks. Its time someone did something about this. I would go to urgent care and then make an appointment for another specialist to see me (was it a fertilization specialist that did the laproscopic implantation?).

I have an idea but you really need to see an MD for this (NOT the MD you have been calling). Have you been passing gas from your rectum at all? Have you had any stool from your rectum at all in two and a half weeks? If you are passing gas and stool all the more reason to go to urgent care or the ER today. If you have passed no gas or stool in two and a half weeks will you let me know? Also have you had any fever in two and a half weeks? Im afraid something serious might be going on so please see a doctor today.

Yes it was a fertility specialist. We just found out that I'm pregnant :) & my Dr. is telling me thats why this is happening and it's just my hormones, but I am still very uncomfortable and haven't had a BM or passed any gas since the procedure. I'm going to call my dr again today and see if there is anything I can take to help with the constipation without it making me have more gas. I'm also leary to take anything being pregnant. Thanks for your response, I couldn't find anything regarding laprascopy on the web.

You just had the procedure 2 weeks ago and you're pregnant already? Are you sure you weren't pregnant before the procedure? Exactly what did they do during the lap? I've had a few laps done and wasn't allowed to have sex for the first few weeks.

Your stomach is not distended because of a pregnancy, but because of the fact that you haven't passed gas or had a bm in all this time. You really need to see a doc asap and get everything checked out.

I realize you dont want to go to the ER but why dont you look up words like "ileus" and "peritonitis". I still say you need to be seen by an MD today. If you have trouble with your abdomen it could jepordize the pregnancy. You can tell them you are worried about taking any medicine or xrays if you want. I know Im being pushy but its only because I believe this is an urgent situation.
