I have fine, thin, straight hair. I also pull out some hair everytime I brush it and also when I take a shower. Is this normal? I'm afraid to really comb my hair now because I always lose hair when I brush. How much hair does the average person shed a day? Will I have less and less hair everyday???

I heard the other day on tv that we only lose about 12-15 hairs a day. I think it's a big fat lie though. I seem to lose a lot in the shower and just running my hands through it also. I would love to lose some though cause my hair is way too thick to deal with.

I've heard it ranges anywhere from 75-150 hairs per day. There are also times of the year when you will shed. I read about how hair grows and there are phases of the growing cycle. When you are in the latent phase, I think it's called, you will loose more hair than usual. But not all the folicles are in the same phase at the same time so you don't go bald. Then once you've shed, those folicles will start growing new hairs. My hairdresser also told me that we will usually shed when warmer weather comes.

I seem to loose alot of hair in the shower. I used to use Pantene Pro-V. I suspected that that may be the culpret. But when I found this board and all of the people who had trouble with that shampoo, I'm so glad I quit using it. I've noticed I don't loose nearly the amount of hair I did when using that product.
