I really hope this isn't a stupid question, to be followed by replies of laughter. :o

If your body temperature is normal, or even below normal, like mine usually is, but you have a headache, does an Ibuprofen lower your body temperature or just take care of the pain?

And I thank you.

Now that's a good question. Never thought of that.

No it shouldn't lower your temperature at all. My normal runs about 97.0 the only time it dips lower is if my blood pressure is down, in which case it will in fact dive to nearly 95.

But that is an interesting thought to ponder, it's almost an oxymoron of sorts..

I'm confused, Kissa. How does the ibuprofin work to lower fever when you are above normal? Are you saying that it only reduces when your body knows it's above normal, similar to how the pain reliever knows to go to the area of pain due to the 'pain signals' going off?

if the temperature is NORMAL the pills aren't going to "fix" anything, therefore it will stay where it is.

I believe it means either lower temperature and body aches do to cold or flu, meaning if you have a temp it will lower it, if you have a headach or body ache do to colds etc it will relief it. I think it will relief whatever you are taking it for. But that is really a good pndering question, maybe a pharmacist would be able to asnwer it for all of us!!
