For the last couple of months, I've had a recurring pain in my right side-it's sometimes high, like it could be my gallbladder, and sometimes low, like it could be my appendix.
It always went away, but the last few days, it has been constant. It's not severe, but bad enough to keep me awake at night and have to take something for pain. Slightly tender too. No fever, no vomiting, but I have no appetite, sometimes slight nausea and have lost a lot of weight. I have been dieting though.
But what made me post was this-I was laying in bed, trying to sleep, in pain, and I pressed on my right side, midway, to see how tender it was...and when I pressed, it was like something popped-my stomach gurgled, like I was pressing on a gurgly balloon! Sorry, couldnt' come up with a better description than that.
I had a complete hysterectomy only 6 months ago, and since the pain is not severe and I'm not throwing up, I haven't gone to the doctor-can't afford to take off for more surgery to be honest. Does this sound like gallbladder or appendicitis, or something else? If so, what?

I get a sharp stabbing pain in my right side, sort of under the ribs and have been to the dr in the past because of it. I have had this off and on for a couple of years now and I too thought it was my gallbladder or something but the dr could find nothing wrong. The pain used to really get me when I was vacuuming or in a bent position for any length of time and I would be unable to stand erect. Sometimes the pain would go away immediately yet other times it would remain for hours. I still don't know what causes this pain but here's an interesting fact: I just gave birth in October and from the beginning of the pregnancy up until today, I never had this pain. I had in fact forgotten all about it until I just got it a couple of hours ago. I was feeding my baby, sitting there and it cramped up. Thinking back now, from what I can gather I get this pain when I haven't eaten and my stomach is empty. I was always dieting before I got pregnant and neglecting to eat, and I also hadn't eaten anything today! When I was pregnant I was eating properly and taking vitamins and never got the pain once! I think it has something to do with the colon and gas. You should really check with your doctor to be sure though....

Thanks for your reply....I finally made an appointment in two weeks-hopefully he'll figure out what's wrong.
