Just how does a person know they have bronchitis? For the last few weeks I have what feels like gravel from the mid throat area down to the stomach it seems. I'm not sick, no fever and I do cough, I force a cough myself cuz I think I can remove the grainey irritated feeling. I do have GERD and on nexium for it. I have what appears a sore throat sort of just a burn not anything that hurts when I swallow. I have no breathing problem, ran 20 minutes yesterday cuz I felt good. This comes and goes, yesterday felt like a million dollars today just so so. Go a couple days feeling no irritation and then days of this. It's really bothering me this grainy burn like in the trachea or somwhere. Anyone know what bronchitis really feels like???

Yes, I do know what bronchitis feels like. Battling tracheal bronchitis now. The doctor listened to my chest and determined where the problem was. You will have a semi-tight feel in tracheal area or lungs, urge to cough frequently, difficult to cough up anything, it just gets thicker and thicker in the area of bronchitis. Different times of day different way you feel and then it decides to get a real good grip on you. Exercising with bronchitis is not advised. There is a possibility of a blowout when tracheal area is stressed.

You would be wise to see a doctor for proper diagnosis. There is a really bad respiratory bug out there that has latched onto some of us and very difficult to shake.

My doctor told me to take "Mucinex". Mucinex is same ingredient as Robitussin but much stronger to keep mucous thinned. Mucinex is over the counter. I did not go to doctor in the beginning but after it got worse and lost my voice completely finally went. I am now on second round of antibiotic. Also, irrigating sinuses with salt water helps keep the junk cleaned out of sinuses so there is less to drain down into throat and lungs.

This bug is strange, you do not feel as bad as you would think at times. Bronchitis is nothing to mess around with, too easy to go into pneumonia.
