sorry but didnt know what to put as a title hope no one is offended. I have four year old twin sons and the older one by 13 minutes is having some troubles with his little pee pee they both had to be recircumcised at 18 months and the older one was put in the hospital at 2 years of age cause he started screaming histarically and i thought that his diaper was bothering him cause that is all he had on so when i took it off to loosen it i noticed that he little pee pee had gone up inside of him and the whole pubic area was bright blue like he lost circulation he was in the hospital for two weeks with no answers to what had happend to him. But it is still the same size it was when he was born and has no sack he just has some skin hanging, my other twin son is growing just fine and he like all others touches it and makes it get big but when the other one does it it does not act like it has any feeling at all it does not do what the other ones does. They were six weeks early and weighed six lbs apiece the older twin was in the birth canal for three months and i was on bed rest so he was pretty swoolen and bruised when he was born just woundering if this has anything to do with it. Im just concerned they will be five soon and his little pee pee looks like a little new borns is there anyone out there that can answer this question for me.?

Sounds like you should ask a doctor to check next time you are visiting. Why did they both "need to be recircumcised"? Did they suffer adhesions as described in the circumcision problem thread lower down on this board? I explained in detail why this sometimes happens at the end of that thread. He may be suffering from a retracted penis but only a doctor could tell you. If it's really worrying you go to the doc just for this. I don't think the premature birth should have caused this though.

What exactly is a retracted penis, and can it be fixed?

they both had to be recircumsized because i dont think that the doctor took his time the first time they had it done, they both had alot of skin still left over and they said that i had to wait till they were a year and a half before they would do it again, no one said anything about retracted penis when he was in the hospital no one realy gave me any answers they just releseased him and sent us home after all the test and being in there for a week, im just afraid that if i dont find out what is wrong with it now it wont ever function right when he gets older. thanks so much if you have anyother suggestions for me would love to hear them

A retracted penis is one where most of its length is inside the body. Is this boy any fatter than his brother? The pubic pad of fat may just be hiding most of his penis. That re-circumcision seems a strange thing to do. Did the doctor suggest it or did you insist that there was too much foreskin? I remember my brother always had a lot more loose skin when we were kids but when he grew up he had no more than I did. It's very hard to judge how much skin to leave in infants and taking too much is much worse than taking too little. Taking none at all is the safest option.

Geoff, I have an 11 year old son that I think has a retracted penis. I had posted about it a few months ago, but no one seemed to know what I was talking about. Is there anything that can be done to fix this? Will he grow out of it? He is just a little overweight. Not much, but he has a chubby belly. Thanks

From what I've read if he's chubby that's all it probably is and it will be fine as he grows up.

hi goodmorning, no the twins are not fat at all they are four and a half years old and they dont even weigh 35 lbs yet they are short to for there age, the doctor is the one that told us that they needed it done unless we let it go and then it would look like they didnt have it done in the first place, it kept getting so infected and no matter how much we manually pulled the skin back it just seemed to not work, so do you think that i should see a nurologist or just a regular pediatrician, im just worried if i wait to long it will be to late, another thing we noticed (sorry about the long post) was that he is a little more uummm i guess we can say feminine then his brother he likes to be held and he loves to dress up with his older sister and play with things that are alittle more babyish than his brother he kind of seems like he dont want to grow up he wants me to pay attention to him all the time and he talks like a two year old, when you dont listen right away, could this have anything to do with the other thing or do you think that this just may be a stage? thank you for replying to all my questions i realy apreciate it

Dear Amanda,
I suppose that because the foreskin is torn away from the glans during any infant circumcision then, if a lot of foreskin is left, the cavity created by the tearing would be subject to infection. There would also be an opportunity for adhesions to develop during the healing process. In an intact baby boy there is no cavity and therefore no opportunity for infection till much later, when proper washing is possible anyway.
If there is such a thing as a pediatric urologist? That would be the go but really you need to see a doctor skilled in child development and penile anatomy. There is probably nothing wrong but an experienced second opinion is what you need to be sure.
I don't think his more feminine personality is likely to be the cause, unless he was actually an intersex baby, which sounds extremely unlikely.
