Hello,

I have read a lot of useful information on this board.
I just turned 40 in July and life has been a disaster since. My question is that everything says that preimenopause has a change in your periods. Does this mean that they can start coming closer together? I was always somewhere between 30-35 days, but sept, oct were 28 days apart , then nov was 27 days and then dec was 25 days. Just can't wait to see how soon it will the next one will come.

Thanks

Jenette

Mine started getting heavier and closer together when I turned 40 (I'm 43 now). My last two were 23 days apart and lasted 25 days each! So now I'm actually bleeding more than I'm not....I'm having an ultrasound next week.

To answer your question...yes...they can be heavier, lighter, closer or further apart. Even missed periods can be expected. I am 47.5 :) 2 years ago, my periods started coming 24 days ...then this year, they were 28 again, like clockwork. This month, I missed my first period.
I think the rule is that once they become closer than 21 days regularly, you should talk to your gyn (at least that is what mine said).
