I've been through the ringer for the last 4 weeks trying to figure out what was wrong with me; however, just 2 days ago, I was diagnosed with gastritis. Now, for the last 4 days, I've been feeling like a lot of gas has traveled to my brain. There's a lot of pressure in my head and behind my eyes. I've been using charcoal tablets as well as prescribed Aciphex. Seems to help, but not enough help. I don't want gas sitting up there too long. If anyone has any idea of how to get this gas out of my head, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm afraid of getting brain damaged or death!
Please help!

That's good to hear. I did mention this feeling to my GI doctor and he mentioned that it's reflux. Maybe it's just sinus pressure. It's just a scary feeling because I recently came down with a lot of symtoms at the same time. I'm also awaiting my biopsy report from my EGD test that I took last week. I'm very nervous about that as well.

Pain in the inner ear, head, and sinus can definitely be caused by GERD. I used to be concerned and a little scared about intense burning headaches I would get. I even had a doctor recommend a head CT scan. I had the scan done to no avail.
One day I took a dose of extra strength Mylanta when the intense inner ear/sinus stinging pain came on. Withing 60 seconds of taking the antacid/gas Mylanta, the pain was completely gone. Ever since, when this particular pain comes on, I take an antacid/anti-gas tablet and the pains predictably go away within a minute.

Thanks Music4All....
I've tried an allergy pill (similar to Benedryl) and it helped. So, hopefully as my intestines heal and the gastritis curbs, the sinus pressure in the head will go away as well.

In my case, and in others with similar problems as mine, it has nothing to actually do with the sinus. It is a phenomenon called "referred pain". This is where a pain is felt in a place other than its origin. This explains why an antacid might almost immediately relieve what feels like a stringing headache. The origin of the pain is not in the head but is resolved when the acid is netralized at the source.

It doesn't exactly go to the head, with reflux the burning in the throat can give you the sense of referred burning pain and your ears can actually ache, mine have done so, but there is no connection from the esophagus to the brain other than pain signals. Referred pain or sensory feelings like burning aching is like any other pain, same as you have a headache but the problem is not in the head it can be referred pain from the neck! Carpal Tunnel, you feel the pain in the wrist but the injury can be in the elbow or shoulder or vice a versa. In my nursing field, we have had people swear they felt like having a heart attack when the problem was the vagus nerve being so over sensitive do to the esophagus erosion. Gas can't get trapped up in the head, it can't go much farther than the throat as the connection stops there. Sinus pressure surely can feel like you have a hot air balloon blowing up in the head I know that! Gastritis is the inflamation of the mucus stomach lining, taking a med may relieve the symptom.

So, Music, do you think the antacid should help? I thought the sinus medicine would help, but it isn't.

Hey Music and Nancy,
I took some Mylanta and I do have some relief in my head. Any idea of how long inflamed bowels can take to heal? This is what seems to be causing my gastritis and the referred pain to my head!
