I went to a new gyno yesterday and he told me that "There isn't any such thing as peri menopause". He said that technically if there were, women would be in perimenopause from the age of 13 or whenever they started their first period! He said that some women do just as well on a placebo as they do on medication (insinuating that a lot of symptoms are in our minds). Needless to say, all the more reason to go to a woman gynocologist then a man! Men would never make it in our shoes!
